I had my surgery on Monday morning. Everything went great. All the nurses were fantastic - they took great care of me, and the support from my family and friends has been terrific. I was I was released on Thursday morning. On Thursday night I had such bad pain in my chest - I thought I was going back to the hospital by ambulance! I called my Dr. and he said it sounded like Pleurisy - turns out...he's right. (What Is Pleurisy? Pleurisy, also called pleuritis, is an inflammation of the pleura, which is the moist, double-layered membrane that surrounds the lungs and lines the rib cage. The condition can make breathing extremely painful, and sometimes it is associated with another condition called pleural effusion where excess fluid fills the area between the membrane's layers) It's very frustrating because it has nothing to do with the bypass surgery - all this pain! Feels like a heart attack! So I feel great about my surgery and my progress there, however, I feel lousy when the Pleurisy acts up. I guess it has happened to a few other patients, but very few. It can be caused by a drug reation or viral infection. I'm not going to let it get me down - I was so pumped for this time of my life and I am going to keep the excitement going no matter what! Thanks everyone - for all your prayers and well wishes!
