Randy, Dr. Roye is, in my humble opinion, the absolute best you're going to find! He's everything that you could want in a surgeon and I put my life in his hands without a second thought. Please email me if you want to know more. There are a lot of us who have had Dr. Roye as our surgeon. You should also come to the support group meetings at RIH each month. They are on the 1st Wednesday of each month, at 6:30 pm, at the Gerry House on the RIH property. 99.9% of the time Dr. Roye is at the meeting and answers questions. All are welcome to attend, regardless of who your surgeon is/was, and where you are in the process. Jen

Hi Randy, I have Dr. Roye and I am scheduled for surgery on April 26th. Dr. Roye is in my opinion the best and most thorough Dr. Every lab and test I went to, everyone who preformed them said he is a fantastic Dr. who is very personal and very professional also. I know he is highly recommended and praised in his field by other professional and patients as well. My PCP knows him and he cannot say enough about him and his experience and expertise. Just putting in my .02 cents! GOOD LUCK!

I love Dr Pohl. I just had my surger two days ago 4/5/05 and he is my surgeon. I cannot compare him to anyone else due to the fact I dont know any other surgeon personally. I have heard from others that Dr Roye is great. Good Luck Kerry

Hi Randy, Dr. Pohl is my surgeon. I think the world of him. I credit him for saving my life. I had stomach cancer that was caught early enough and was found during a pre-op procedure. He is very thorough with all his testing beforehand. I thank God every day for sending me Dr. Pohl's way. He has been so great thru this whole journey. Of course everybody thinks their surgeon is great(well, most everybody), but you need to decide for yourself. Dr. Pohl holds monthly meetings at Roger Williams Hospital and is very honest with all questions asked. Good luck with your journey! Lisa

Hi Randy, Dr. Pohl performed my surgery. I believe that in the beginning you have to attend seminars for His surgery, but I am not dure if you have to for the other surgeons. maybe your could to get a feel for the other doc's, but I did a lot fo praying and just kept moving forward in the different processes of the tests, watinign and appointments. Dr. Pohl is a very soft-spoken, yet direct man. He will tell you like it is and not hold back. I would guess that you would need to make a personal decision in choosing a surgeon. My friend had had her surgery through Dr. Pohl and several of her friends had also had it done through him...so I was convinced that he was the one...I didn't even make call's to others. Good luck in your journey. Jenn 5'7" Lap RNY 350/303.5
