Hey yall, I dont know about you all but I like going out to enjoy a dinner with family and friends, even though I cant make a dent into the meal I order. I was wondering if any of you have any favorite places in RI that serve somewhat wls friendly meals ( by this I mean foods that are not full of fats, sugars, and carbs). If so, what do you order when you go there? With love, Em

Emily, I like to go out too. I haven't found a place that really caters to wls, but most places have a good selection. Everyone is jumping on the low carb band wagon. Chelo's, UNO's, Ruby Tuesdays, TGIF's all have low carb selections on their menus usually with the amount of carbs in each dish too. I have a favorite dish at all of them so I know before hand what I'll get and not be swayed by other tempting foods. If I go somewhere where that doesn't have a low carb menu I usually stick with a grilled chicken caeser salad. Almost every place has that on their menu. I LOVE the one at Panara bread. Yum! I was given the okay to eat salads as long as I eat the meat and cheese on it more than the lettuce to get the protein in. If anyone has any other places where they have good low carb food, please let me know since I'm always looking! Megan

Ladies, I stick with the same places you already mentioned - the low carb dishes are good and you end up with leftovers! One of my other favorite places is Fire & Ice. You can pick your own ingredients - it's fun and delicious. I like a nice bowl of chicken and veggies - YUM! The husband and the kids like it, too! If your family likes Chinese food, I suggest the chinese buffet on Rt. 2 next to Jamiel's Shoes. They have a Mongolian grill - which is similar to the Fire & Ice concept. You pick your own meats & veggies and they grill them in front of you. This is a good compromise, so that the family can have their chinese food and I can eat, too! I think we should do a "Night Out". Pick a place and a date (maybe in January) and all meet for dinner. It's so helpful to be with other people who have had or will be having the surgery. It's good conversation and you learn tricks that others have picked up along the way. What do you think? Jen
