Support groups

Hi!. I am13 months post-op, and down 125lbs so far! I have about 60 more to go. I Had my surgery in another state and I am looking for a local support group in the Warwick/West Warwick,Ri area or a weekly /bi-weekly online group in the AM as I work late afternoons and evenings. I am new to this site. Looking forward to hearing from you! Sandi

Sandi, Congratulations on your success! I am also in West Warwick and don't know of any other support groups in the AM, but maybe we can start one! Jen

HI, I'M WAITING TO SEE DR. POHL TO SCHEDULE MY SURGERY WOULD LOVE TO GET TOGETHER WITH ANYONE FOR COFFEE, MAYBE DISCUSS FORMING A GROUP-I'VE BEEN IN A NUMBER OF THEM, THEY HELP A LOT-THE "TOOL" SHOULD HELP OUT A BIT MORE I HOPE. BEST, KRIS

Welcome Sandi, I wish I could help you but there really aren't many meetings around RI! I agree.....we should start our own meetings! I'm sure there's a way to get information on how to start a support meeting. I'm about 8 hours away from having my surgery..... See you on the losing side! Megan B

Hi Megan I'm a newbie. Going to see Dr Pohl on the 17th to schedule surgery , hopefully Dec or Jan. I hope that everything is going well with you and that you are getting lots of lovng support at home after your Big Day! Chatted with Jen (in Warwick )-we talked about meeting for coffee. How about seeing if we can get together - not unlike AA , no leader or fee, just people sharing their experience, problems, hope to stay on track. It would sure beat listening to my own insecure thoughts!!! I really believe in peer support-it's the real deal Best to you, Kris

Hey ya'll! Count me in!! I'd like to get going with these support groups. I'd love to meet new people that have had the surgery. When is the next meeting at either RIH or RW? I'm an airhead when it comes to remembering dates. Congrats on being a "loser" Sandi. Take care! Michelle

Hi Michelle, There will be a support meeting on Thursday at RWH, 6 PM. Hope to see you there, it is always good to hear others that are walking the same path as you are. I may not be very vocal at the meetings, but it makes me feel better knowing I am not alone. Hoping to see you there! Kristen J.
