Sleep study questions??
Hi all,
Well I am finally coming to the last stretch of my pre-op appointments and have only the sleep study appointment left in Middletown! I wanted to ask if I go and get evaluated first and if they determine or how do they determine if I need a sleep study and stay overnight? And how does that work? I am anxious to get this one over with, then I guess I just go for my bloodwork up? Sorry for all the questions....Im just a bit nervous/excited!
I had my psych evaluation done last week by Dr. Friedman and he was a wonderful man and I felt very comfortable with him and with Cheryl. If anyone is nearby (Smithfield) and needs a walking partner, I will be happy to accompany you post-op which I hope will be before the holidays? Or is that wishful thinking? Smithfield High School has a great walking track and I am looking forward to finally being able to get the exercise in that I have wanted to but couldnt because of being overweight.
Dee, Hi. I went to RI Hos. for my first "sleep" appt. You see a doc. & he/she asks you a bunch of questions. Then they measure your neck. Based on the results you will be asked to do a night in a clinic where they will monitor your breathing during sleep.
Don't be surprised if you are told that you must do the overnight. I think most surgeons want this test done prior to your approval for the wls.
Hope this helps. Best of luck... Marianne F.
Hi D-
What you are attending is your initial consult for sleep study. Yes, you are measured etc. and then you are required to do an overnight in a sleep lab. That appointment is made after your consult. They are pretty bood up, but you can be put on a waiting list. If I could offer a suggestion - if you able to go on a moment's notice, give them your cell phone #. I did this and got in much, much sooner.
Once you complete the actual study, you do need to go back again for a follow up with the doctor. Once you get the go-ahead, they you can have your blood done. Dr. Roye's office will ask you if you had your follow-up.
