HELP !!! Can't find doctor to do psych consult through Magellan (BCBS)

My last test is the Psych, but I can find a Dr that will do the Eval. and is covered through Magellan. I have contacted Dr Pohl'ss office and every DR that Pohl office recommended does not except Magellan. After the Psych, I can see the Dr and get my date. This was one obstacle I never taught of. Please recommend some Dr for the Psych Consultant. I don't really want to pay the whole thing out of my pocket ( $535 -+), but I will, to get the ball moving.

Hi C, I had Dr. Pohl as my surgeon also. I had to pay out of pocket for my Psych. evaluation. I had Dena Carlone...think she was in Providence. If I remember correctly it was less than $200 and I only saw her for less than an hour. I know it was no more than $250. Best of luck to you! Lisa

My suggestion would be to call Magellan and have them give you a referral of providers. If they can't find one then they'll need to make provisions to get one covered for you. I am taking it that this is not BCBSRI, as my psych visit was covered, and the behavioral health manager is Beacon. Take Care and best of luck, Stephanie

I would first call your insurance company. Then, if they don't have anyone that they will cover, you can write them a letter requesting that they cover it. They reveiw it at a board meeting and get back to you on their decision. I've done it before with magellon and they approved it. In fact, it was for a particular psychologist in my area.
