Shaun, Good luck to you! I am also a patient of Dr. Harrington. May I ask you a couple of questions? Are you having RNY or Band? Lap or Open? How long did you wait between the time you last met with Dr. H. and the date of your surgery? I'm scheduled to meet with him on 8/24, and I'm trying to get some idea of when I might be having the procedure. I haven't met Dr. H yet (I originally met with his NP, Helen Mi). Do you like him? Did he ask you to lose weight before the surgery? Sorry so many questions, but I'm just so excited to find someone on the board who's going through this now, and with this doctor! Thanks for your input, and I hope everything goes smoothly for you! Jackie

Hi JAckie, I love Dr. Harrington. He has a bubbly personality and is full of energy. His personality is a good fit for me. He is a good motivator too. To your questions: I am having RNY Open. It was about 2 and 1/2 months between my meeting with Dr. H and my surgery date. He didn't ask me to loose weight, but I was motivated by his speech to get into an exercise habit and better eating habits. I've lost about 25 pounds. I'm "finding other things to do besides eat." Ask me anything you want. I know its hard to find someone with Dr. H. Shaunne

Shaun, Thanks so much for the reply. You're right, it seems to be hard to find people who can tell me anything about Dr. Harrington, although everything I've been able to find has been very positive. Was the 2-1/2 months including your testing, or did the date get set after the testing phase was done? Did he decide to do Open RNY rather than Lap for a specific reason? Thanks. Jackie
