Dr. Harrington's/Roye's Patients???
Hi.
I have a consult next week (1st appointment before tests) with Dr. Harrington. I have waited several months for this appointment.
I am questioning whether or not to switch to Dr. Roye. I have seen that Dr. Roye has done this much longer, but Dr. Harrington is also highly skilled and comes highly recommended.
My question to Dr. Harrington's & Roye'spatients that have had surgery -- Did you experience any complications? What is your overall rating of him?
Have any of you switched? If so, did you have to wait a whole bunch of months again.
Thanks for your help.
Denise
I had my surgery with Dr. Roye and had no complications. I know a couple of people who have had Dr.Harrington and were very happy with him. I know most of the testing and stuff are the same. In my preop class there were several patients of Dr, Harrington there. And Helen is an assistant to both of them and she is wonderful!
I don't know much about Dr.Harrington but I would keep your appointment and if you don't feel good about him after meeting him, then think about switching. Not sure how long you would have to wait though.
Good luck!
Megan
Denise, Congratulations on your upcoming appt.!! My 1st appt . with Dr. Harrington is in Oct. I look forward to this appt. I have only heard positive words to descibe him. One of my friends referred me to him. She had no complications at all. Let me know how it goes. Have you already been approved by your insur. comp.?Elizabeth in W.W.
Dr Harrington did my surgery. I had no complications at all. My physician referred me to him specifically.
At one of the RIH support meetings, someone asked why there were so many more patients there of Dr Roye's than Dr Harrington. Dr Roye was at the meeting to answer peronally.
He said that he and Dr Harrington work together. They do things pretty much the same. The difference being that a greater percentage of Dr Roy's patients are GBS pts while there's a slightly less percentage of Dr Harrington's that are GBS.
They both have the same morbidity and mortality rates (both are excellent). They follow mostly the same protocols.
I don't think you can go wrong with either of them, but you would probably have to wait to get another entry level appointment with Dr Roye if you switched.
Hi Denise.....I am 3 years post-op Lap RNY by Dr. Harrington. He preformed a textbook operation on me and things could not have gone smoother. I have not had one problem since my surgery. Dr. Roye was his assistant in the OR and I met with him before my surgery to get aquainted. I don't know if Dr. Roye will be assisting Dr. Harrington in the OR if you choose to stay with Dr. Harrington, but in my opinion these two are a winning team together. Good luck.
Denise, I had Dr. Harrington do my surgery. I have since switched to Dr.Roye. I have had some serious post-op complications... I would go W/ Dr. Roye . He is patient, kind, & most of all HONEST... I didn't find the same true of Dr. Harrington. He has taken no responsibility for my surgical complications... He was the one w/ the scalpel, afterall. Good luck to you... Marianne
I had Dr. Harrington for my surgery this past January and the only complaint I have is his bedside manner. He needs to loosen up.
I have had no complications and continue to see him every 3 months. I am also pleased to know I can speak to him with my concerns basically anytime he is not in surgery.
Try your first visit and voice any concerns you have with him, then if you aren't satisfied, switch to Dr. Roye.
He and the surgical team were extrememly competent and handled me with kid gloves.
On the other hand,my girlfriend has Dr. Roye and loves him too. So it has to come down to how you fell when you see him and how comfortable you are that he answered all your questions.
Good Luck.
