I got my date

Well first of all I was totally suprised to learn that I lost 11 pounds since I saw Dr. Phol last. I knew I lost something but not that much. He said that was great. He talked to me for a few minutes and then sent me out to the lovely front desk to get my date. I am having my surgery on September 3rd, 2004. I have to be there for 6am. I was happy to learn I am his first surgery. I was a little anxious about going second because that mean't I had the whole morning to wait and I am not good at waiting. I hope this month doesn't drrrraaaaggg. LOL Shannon

Hi Shannon! Congratulations!! I know I was relieved when I got my date. I spent a lot of time finding little projects that kept my mind and hands occupied during the in-between-time. It helped me to make a plan, and write it all on the calendar so I wouldn't lose track of anything. Take good care, you're almost there! We'll save you a seat on the losers' bench! Be well! Hi Shannon, Congrats on your date! I just had another question to ask.....did it take you about 9 months to get your date too? Is that the average time frame? Thats great that your the first surgery of the day! Are you having the RNY or another type? I'm nosey (lol). You don't have to answer but I'm so curious to know everything I can about the procedure. Thank you everyone, I appreciate all the well wishes. I am making a calendar so I don't forget to do anything before I have the surgery. Megan, Your not being nosey. I saw Dr. Phol for the first time on June 3rd for my first consult. I had to wait for my EGD appoinment which I had in july and then I finally got my follow up with Dr. Phol on August 2nd. I went to Dr. Phol seminar last October. I called the very next day and got my appointment for my first consult in May but it turned out to be a holiday so they ended up changing it about a month before I went to see him. I am have gastric bypass and I hope to have the laproscopic surgery. If he has to open me up for some reason I am also ready for that. I just want to move on with this surgery so anyway I have it is ok with me. Shannon

Congratulations on your date Shannon,I do hope it doesn't drag for you, but even when I got my date they called me a couple of times to change the date to a sooner one, so you never know. I would spend the next month pampering yourself, being a total glamourpuss until the day arrives!!! For Megan, I had Dr Pohl and I had attended the seminar in February and was given my first appointment on August 5th. I had completed all of my pre op requirements by the end of March and then called the office to say, 'hey my appointment isn't until August and I am done with everything'. Well, I got an appointment the next day thanks to a cancellation, and I had my surgery in May. My advice if you go with Dr Pohl is to make your appointment, complete you pre op requirements and call to see if they have a cancellation. Best wishes to both of you on your new journey, Stephanie

Hi Shannon, first congrats on the date you will be much happier once you are on the other side. I am 14 months post op and it was the best thing I did for myself. My mom is having her surgery on Sept 3 also, at I think 7:30 with Dr. Pohl. Good luck... Melissa

I hope her's isn't at 7:30am because I am his first surgery and I have to be there for 6am. I wonder if she was the lady in the office behind me. I can't recall the name but someone was waiting behind me to go next. Let me know what time she is having the surgery because I have to make sure they didn't mess up my time. Thanks Shannon
