sleep study -dr. roye
I just had a question about the sleep study for dr. royes patients. I got a call from the sleep study people today saying that I have to have a consultation before the actual sleep study, anyone else have that? also, anyone know the address of the sleep study place? I have the appt for the consultation on monday and I have no idea where it is! Opps!! Thanks!
Em
Hi Em! Yes, Dr. Roye's patients must have a consult with the sleep specialist before the actual test is scheduled (my consult is next week!).
Watch your mail, as you will soon receive an info sheet & questionnaire from the sleep lab & it will give you all the info you need. Which specialist are you seeing? I am seeing Dr. Bonitati who is located on the 7th floor of the A.P.C. building (which is right behind Women & Infants). The sleep lab is located there as well. There are other sleep specialists in different locations in the state who work with Dr. Roye's patients as well. Hope this helps! Maureen M. ;)
Sorry to say that the sleep study was the most time-consuming and aggravating test that I had. I wasn't tired and couldn't sleep so I had to go back for a second test. I asked the consult doc for a sleep aid for the 2nd test and he had no problem with that & it was OK.
You have to get all these wires and belts attached all over (just stuck, no needles) and then as uncomfortable as you are, you are supposed to sleep on beds that are as hard as rocks. There is a TV but it's one TV for all and you only have a chair in the hall to sit on (like prison, I thought)...but you can sit in the hallway on a couch and read until you are tired...there is no set time to go to bed..whatever works for you.
Well, maybe it's just me...but I think knowing what to expect makes it easier somehow..like "Oh it wasn't that bad"...make sense.
In any case, it's worth any test to get the surgery.
I'm 9 mos since mine and down 4 sizes...very pleased.
Good Luck to you!!
