Another ? for Patients of Dr. Roye
With thanks in advance, I have another question for fellow patients of Dr. Roye. How long after your first consult did you receive your info packet? I still have not received mine after almost a month (my first appointment was on June 30th & I was told by phone on July 7th that I was approved by BC). I know that the woman who makes up the packets was on vacation & is a bit behind in sending them out. Further, since I plan to have my surgery early in '05 (had to choose a time in the school year for a sick leave that would have minimal impact on my class!), I am sure that I am not at the top of the mailing list. However, when I arrived home today after an all day reading workshop, I had a phone message from a Carol in Radiology at RIH notifying me of an xray to be taken on the 26th. At first I was totally confused as I did not make an appt. for one. Then, after reading Emily's message thread, I saw that Dr. Roye's packet arrives with test dates already scheduled. Is it then possible that his office scheduled the xray (don't know what kind from the phone message) & my packet is on the way but late? I am really anxious to get started (at least with the psych eval & sleep test) as I want to take advantage of my vacation from school (I'm out until the end of Aug.). Any info you can give me will be most appreciated! Maureen
Maureen,
If I were you I would call the office and tell them you recieved that call and were wondering if maybe your packet got lost in the mail. You said they were backed up but it has been 2 weeks since you were approved and they usually get them out right away so even with a vacation back up I would think one week delay would be enough. Plus it definitely sounds like they are making appointments for you. I had to have a chest xray when I had my testing done and they made that appointment for me. They make most of the appointments for you except for ones like the sleep study and psych eval, and blood work.
Good luck!!
Megan
Hi Maureen,
You should NEVER hesitate to call your doctors office at any time for any question you may have. Remember this is YOUR body that Dr. Roye will be operating on and it doesn't stop there. Your relationship with the office staff, as well as the doctor, is an ongoing one after surgery during your weight loss journey so you might as well start getting acquanted now. My suggestion is not to stay in the dark any longer and call, get answers to your questions and make some acquantances that will be with you throughout your journey. Best Wishes to you on you journey. Sue Taylor LAP RNY 7/23/04 Dr. Pohl
Gee, give them a call...sure sounds like they've made some testing apts for you....perhaps you can arrange to go to the office to get a copy of the appointment page and the rest of the papers.
Annette is pretty nice but she gets busy and sometimes overwhelmed. I know I had to call her a couple of times when I was at your stage. You know the old saying "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"
good luck.
