Questions
I have had all my testing and have my second appointment with Dr. Pohl on July 22 at which time I expect to get a date for my surgery. Oh yeah, my name is Pat, I'm 57 and been a yo-yo all my life. Mother of one son, Grandmother of two one of each kind, Mother to Heather the greyhound and Chevy the mutt in North Kingstown. Now on to my question. How long do you feel like something the dog dragged in for = 2 days/2 weeks. I am really looking forward to the surgery and was one of those kids who use to ask "Are We there yet?" before my father got out of the driveway. (LOL) So I was thinking no matter how bad I felt if I could reason with myself that I will feel better in a couple of days or weeks it would make me feel better.
Thats all for now

Hi Pat, Truthfully it takes about 3 weeks after the surgery to feel better. It took me a bit longer because I did go back to work 4 weeks later. I was tired of rmy first weel back to work. I felt great when I was home after the surgery but I could also nap if I needed to, at work that is a bit difficult. I think everyone is different, we all heal differently, just don't rush, you will feel better with time. The best thing is that you will feel better just for having the surgery and changing the rest of your life. I want to wish you well on your surgery and I hope you get a date. My mom goes back to Dr. Pohl on the 29th and I hope she gets her date too. Best of luck to you and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected]. I am 14 months out and it was the best thing I could have done for myself.

Hi Pat, I just happened to be reading the boards and came accross your question. I don't know if you are aware that Dr. Pohl's patients have a support group they can attend on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 6:00 to 7:30 at Roger Williams Hospital Kay Auditorium. There is one this Thursday July 15th. During the groups pre and post op patients ask questions and share experiences. It's a great place to get a lot of your questions answered. The group setting is nice because not everyone has the same experiences so sharing those experiences is very comforting and gives lots of insight as to what to expect as you progress through your journey to regain your health and a better life. As for myself I derive a great feeling of not being alone in my journey to reclaim my life.
Come join the rest of us Thusday and if you are lucky enough to get a surgery date before the August support group comes around you will have already had your questions answered.
This is my last group before my surgery which is on July 23rd, the day after your appt. with Dr. Pohl. By the August support group I will have joined the "loosing side" and will be reporting my weight loss from then on. I can't wait. I'm so excited. I have 10 days left.
