My First Consult!

Hi everyone! My name is Maureen & I'm a relatively new member here. After a lifetime of Sears "Chubettes" & LB Plus Sizes (not to mention constant dieting failures of every kind, lower back pain, & other weight related physical maladies), I made the decision to have WLS (the RYBG). I contacted Dr. Roye, the wonderful surgeon who had done my hernia repair surgery a few years back & took the first step. I had my initial consult today (with his lovely assistant Helen) & after a very helpful info session, the application to my insurance company is on its way! I am mostly excited but nervous, too. I had done a lot of reading on WLS prior to the consult & felt prepared, but the emphasis on the risk of pulmonary embolism really gave me pause. Has this been an issue for any members of the boards? It would be so helpful to hear from others about their pre, during, & post-op experiences....good & bad. I really enjoy reading the boards & am so very happy to be here! Maureen ;)

Congrats on your consult. I finished all my appts and am now wating to have my EGD which is scheduled on July 16th. From there I meet with Dr. Phol again and he will give me my surgery date. I just can't wait to be on the "loosing" side. I wish you a lot of luck with your weight loss journey. Shannon

Maureen, I had Dr. Roye and have had no complications at all. There is a medication you inject to prevent the blood clots and walk walk walk. It was scarey but a good expericence. dale
