Could anyone give me information on the name of the surgery they had done and the doctor who performed the surgery. I'm trying to figure out which surgeons will do what surgeries. . Many thanks for all your anticipated responses. Susan

I don't think you'll find a doctor in RI who does the duodenal switch. The last time I checked, the nearest doctor who does those was in NY. (There's a site you can check, www.duodenalswitch.com) Dr. Pohl does the lap band and RNY (gastric bypass) at Roger Williams Hospital and Dr. Roye and associates do the RNY at RI Hospital. I don't think they're doing the band yet but I could be wrong. I think both doctors do proximals, but again I could be wrong on that! I know when I had my consult with Dr. Pohl he didn't want to do distals because of the nutritional hazards.

Hi Sandra, Thanks for the information and to all *****sponded to my posted question. After blowing my surgery on June 18 like I did I went a little and thinking that because that happened maybe I wasn'st meant to have surgery During my questioning stage I spent hours researching again and again. Finally I decided that the problem was not that the surgery was not meant to be but rather I am SCARED of the operation itself. I definately have decided that having surgery is the BEST THING for me. Both for my health and to get me off the side lines of life. My new strategy is I am going to keep my instructions written down and with me at all times and I plan on seeing my counslor a couple times that week to help with distress tolerance to get me there all set to go. Then I will meet you all on the loosing side Thanks everyone for all your support. P.S. does anyone know if there is some way that I can transfer all my writings anywhere on this site to my personal forum page so I don't have to retype the same information there?
