Patients of Dr. Harrington - Upper Endoscopy?

Hi everyone, Those of you who have had WLS with Dr. Harrington - did he require an upper endoscopy? I received a list of about a dozen pre-op tests and I've had almost all of them, but the upper endoscopy was not included. Is it the same as an upper GI? Thanks. Jackie

Jackie, My sister-in-law did not have that done. Also, keep in mind that she does not have her gallbladder. I am not sure if that makes a difference. Denise

Denise, Thanks for the reply. I have my gallbladder, and had a couple of tests to determine how healthy it is, but we'll see about the endoscopy.

When was your initial phone call to Dr. Harrington's office? I am just so anxious to get moving on this!!! I even called his office and told them that I could be there on a minutes notice. Linda said it is very rare that they get cancellations. Oh well....

Denise, I made my initial call in late February. At that time, I was told to expect a call in late May or June, to set up an appointment. I called back on April 30, just to see if all was still on track. Linda confirmed late May-June. On May 1 (the next day), she called me with an appointment for May 4! It was so quick that she knew I wouldn't have time to receive the initial questionnaire in the mail, so I filled it out at the office. I'm guessing, but it seems like there would almost have to have been a cancellation for things to have happened so quickly. Keep the faith - if you've let them know that you can jump into a cancellation, you may get lucky. Even if that doesn't happen, the wait is worth it. They're a great staff, as are the staff at RI Hospital, where I'm getting all my tests. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, because so far this has been SO much easier than I thought it would be! Let me know if you have questions as your journey progresses.
