how much is enough to weigh to be eligible
Hi everyone,
I want to get the gastric bypass surgery but my regular doctor will not give me a referral to see a surgeon about it, he says I need to try other options first but I have tried different diets and they never last. I am 5'2 and weigh 206 I think my BMI is 36, or 38. Which I know isn't healthy. Should I go to a surgeon to see if he'll let me have it done anyways?
If you have any ideas write to me at [email protected]
With Dr. Roye you don't need a referral to him unless your insurance requires it. (Mine didn't, Healthmate). If you have a lot of co-morbidies or at least one or two serious ones, surgeons and insurance companies will mkae exceptions to the BMI of 40 guideline. If you don't have co-morbs I doubt they would approve the surgery.
Good luck! Megan
P.S. It takes a long time to get into see Dr. Roye for an initial appointment. So if you decide to try to set up an appointment, expect to wait at least 6 months, probably more.
