On march 16 2004 Dr. Roye did what I thought was an unbelievable job getting me on the road to feeling good about myself and learning to live the way I should have always lived. I never thought I would have the courage to do this surgery but with the full support of family and friends I put all my confidence in Dr. Roye's hands. The surgery went along as expected. My gall bladder came out along with the ugliest stones ever seen. I was up and walking first thing the next morning and I haven't stopped yet. I was prepared for lots of nausea and pain but i experienced no nausea, little pain from the incision and no side effects of any kind. I was prepared for every possibe side effect but I was extremely fortunate and healed fast. I left the hospital 5 days later and came home on pureed foods. Ten days later the staples came out and I was 25 pounds lighter. Helen and Dr. Roye were very pleased and I was soo excited. I was feeling great The next week I was allowed soft foods. I have no appetite but I don't feel the desire for any of the foods I always found comfort in before. On my 6 week check up I was 45 pound lighter and estactic. As of right now I am on full foods as long as they are small portions and I chew extremely well. That took some getting used to but I am working on it every day. I am back toswimming a mile a day at the YMCA and walking a mile three times a day. I get tired easily but I just sit and rest then continue. I bless my primary care physician for making the initial appointment with Dr Roye. I know I have a tough road still to travel because I am not getting all the vitamins and protein expected daily. It is sometimes difficult to get all the protein and vitamins daily because I have no appetite to speak of. I stay busy in hte gardens or walking or even at the Y and I still take a nap every day but I feel so much better about myself. This is such a remarkable journey we have all started. I can talk to my support staff so much easier than my family and friends and for that I am very thankful for this web site. I hope other patients have a recuperation as easy as I did. I know there are some scary negative reports and cases heard of but there are also some good stories and I am fortunate enough to be one. Good luck to all who are thinking of this and those ready to do it. I am asked every day if I as glad I did it and the answer is always HECK YEAH.
