Hi, my name is Jeanne, and I am post op as of 1/9/04. My surgery was scheduled for 2/6/04, but they got a cancellation and asked if I wanted to pu**** up and I said sure. I had open surgery w/gallbladder removal and I feel fantastic. I should be having my staples(37 of them) removed sometime this week. I had Dr. Harrington and would reccommend him to anyone. I thought he was a little cold in his office, but he cares when it counts. I never felt more secure in a situation than I did in the OR, and this was my first ever surgery. His OR team was fantastic. My hospital stay was OK, but I fired the visiting nurse. No need for them to come out when I am setting up my own meds, taking my blood sugars, and giving myself blood thinning shots. I needed assistance with bathing and the said I had to wait for my poor husband to come home to help me. Umm, I don't think so. I am adapting quite nicely to pureed foods and get excited when I add something new to my diet. I was very overwhelmed when I first came home, but was able to speak to the staff at Dr. Harrington's office on an almost daily basis. I also spoke to a couple of dear friends every day to help me get over the hump. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. The doctor's have already cut my oral diabetic medicine dosage in 1/2. Wooo Hoooo. Well, I think that's all i have to say. Please feel free to email me if you want to talk. Peace,Jeanne
