Mr. Messa (28)

I was wondering if anyone knew about Mr. Messa passing during WLS..I had read it on another message board, dont know where they got their information at, but was just curious if anyone here knew anything about it, since he was from RI...My prayers go out to his loved ones.

It is all over the news here. He passed away on Tuesday during surgery at Roger Williams Hospital. I didn't catch the whole news broadcast but I heard something about him having liver problems. This is a very sad thing to have happened. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago on Tuesday(different doctor and hospital though)and it certainly hit home for me. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

He died 30 minutes into the surgery, according to the news, so I don't know if that part was all the prep stuff, or what. His doctor, Dr.Pohl, was also mine. I had my surgery exactly a week before this happened. I would do it all over again, with Dr.Pohl and Roger Williams. There is no indication yet that Mr.Messa's death was a direct result of the type of procedure, and not something having to do with allergic reaction to anasthesia, or whatever. Unfortunately, the hospital suspended open and lap RNYs because of this. It is tragic for the people waiting. Melissa Powers
