Hello everyone! I am 9 weeks post op and have lost 75 pounds. I feel very good except I do have some questions. I still vomit just about every time I try to eat anything and lately have felt nauseous. Is this still normal after 9 weeks? Can someone please tell me what they were able to eat after 9 weeks and what I should be feeling after I eat. I always have this sick, nauseous feeling and then ultimately usually vomit. I really would appreciate any advice anyone may have. Thank you and best wishes to everyone!

Wow, 75 pounds in 9 weeks is just incredible! While some vomiting is normal, I wouldn't say it's normal to vomit nearly every time you eat. Constant vomiting can be caused by a stricture, scar tissue that forms on the stoma and closes it so that food can't go down. When that happens, they do an endoscopy to dilate the opening. But since you're not vomiting EVERY time, that might not be the problem. If it gets to the point that even water comes back up, you definitely need to go get scoped, and maybe you should do that now anyway. The only thing I can advise is to eat slower, chew longer and try stopping a few bites earlier than you're now doing. Do you feel pain when this happens, as if the food's "stuck"? I didn't feel nausea, per se, when I vomited. I felt a pain when the food would get stuck that could only be relieved by vomiting. But I only threw up five or six times, not every time. In the beginning, eating just one or two bites too many, or too fast, can cause this. At nine weeks, I think I was eating pretty much anything, but I avoided bread, rice and pasta which can swell in your stomach and don't have the protein we need. I ate a lot of chili, because that went down pretty good because of the consistency. I used to have problems with chicken or meat that was too dry.

Thank you so much for responding! I really hope that I don't have any problems! I recently took a job at Walt Disney World in FL and am moving down there on Sept. 18th. My time is VERY limited and I'm really worried now that I might have a problem! Last night I vomited with every bite I took! I don't feel much pain, but I still don't find this very normal...hopefully it will pass and thank you once again for your response!
