The waiting game
Is anyone here a patient of Dr. Roye? I have had a consult date for 4 months now...its in October. Now that Summer is comming to an end, I feel my date getting closer! I am so nervous. I have a BMI of 46.4, but I'm still nervous that I wont be eligible for surgery. Can anyone here tell me what I should be expecting at my consultation. I just wi**** would get here already!
Melissa, I have Dr. Pohl, but I know that if you have Blue Cross that BMI does qualify. Mine is 44. He said it was anything 40 and over and between 35-39 with a medical condition. He'll ask you what insurance you have and might be able to tell you if he feels they'll pay or not based on his experiences. My surgery is tomorrow. Believe me, the day will come.
Melissa, I am a patient of Dr. Roye's. I had my consult back in March. You're BMI should almost definitely qualify you for WLS. My BMI is 45.7. Dr. Roye is very nice, he will explain the whole procedure to you. You may also meet Helen, his nurse practitioner. She, too, is wonderful. At the time of my consult I had United Health and to be quite honest with you they only held me up, as far as an approval goes. I switched my insurance carrier in June and I was approved in 6 days. The one thing you will come to know about Dr. Roye is that he is very thorough. I have been doing pre op testing since July and I finally got a date to see him on the 19th of this month so that we may go over my test results and get a date. Let me know how you make out......Lots of luck on your journey, Stacie M
