I have United Health Care and for some reason.......

They dont know the pre- auth requirements for the bypass surgery.I was all approved through blue cross then my husband was laid off . Lost insurance one day before second appt. I was so angry. now I have UHC community plan. There is nothing on thier site and member services is of no help.They said it's covered if medically necc. but they dont have a list of requirements? Thanks!

I also have UHC and had a terrible time finding out the pre-auth requirements. I was caught between Cheryl in the office and UNC. I sent the office (Giaovanni) a written request to submit or tell me what I needed to do. Cheryl put it through and I was approved in a week. Now, I'm sure UNC has many different plans so there is no telling. There phone service at UNC, sucks! I was on ther for hours for days and could not get an answer other than have your Dr. submit and they will either approve or deny with an explanation.

Just wanted to say hang in there.  I cant help dont have UHC  I did  a few years ago.  But WLS was excluded from my policy.  The only thing i know about it from someone who has UHC the surgery must be done at a center of Excellence.  But they could have a  different plan then you do,  I know it sucks having to deal with them.
