Psych/Counselor?

I called the number that Dr. Giovanni gave me and they do not take my insurance. So, I was wondering if anyone could recommend some psych's or couselor's that do WLS eval's.

Most Ins do not even cover the psych eval... check with your ins company for names.

I agree with Johanna...check with your insurance company. You don't have to go with the psych/counselor Dr. G. recommends. Good Luck!

Thanks! I just called the insurance company and they said I can self refer myself out and it will be covered as long as I haven't used up my 8 visits. (haven't used any! lol!) Now I'm just trying to find someone who will do a WLS eval and one that doesn't have a wait list of 8 or more weeks. Fingers crossed!

Well, the first number I called gave me a 8 week or more wait list. I told them I'd call them back if I couldn't find anyone to do it earlier than that. Well, all the other people I called were of no help. Most of them didn't even know what a WLS eval was. I was like ummm, great. lol! So, I called the first number back and got another receptionist and told her I had called earlier and was told it was at least an 8 week wait and could I jump on the list and if it was possible to maybe be on the cancellation list if anyone else cancelled. Well, she says "Oh no, we can get you in earlier than that. How's Friday?" Woo Hoo! So, I am going on Friday. lol!!

Julie- I called the appointment line to make an appointment and the girl knew exactly what I was talking about, but she told me I could refer myself out and go off base as everyone has 8 visits that will be covered as long as you go to a network provider. So, that's what I did. I called a bunch of numbers off the network provider list and most of them never even answered the phone. I was starting to wonder how accurate the list on the website was. lol! But I called one at Newport Hospital and they told me 6-8 weeks. I told them if I didn't find someone who could do it sooner, I'd call back. When I couldn't find anyone who would do a wls eval or to even pick up the ringing phone, I called Newport Hospital back and another person answered and told me I could come in on Friday. So, I am going on Friday at 2pm. I'll just need my second Nut visit and my EGD and then I'm all done!

Oh and Julie, I called to see if my EGD had been scheduled yet and they told me they were waiting on Tricare to authroize it. Do you happen to know about how long it took them to authorize your EGD?

It only took about a week or so. Once your psych is done, you'll be on you way to the EGD! No worries!

I got in the following day the same way, cancelation list. The more you call, the more they start feeling bad. I got all the pre testing done in 3 weeks.
