  Hi all !
I'm moving to RI in the next few weeks and am 6 months post op from RNY (down 114.6 lbs).  I need to find a good doctor in RI to get on board with that also sells the supplements (currently i'm LOVING The Pro-15Ti Peach Mango and Wildberry passion). Anyone have any reccomendations ?
Looking forward to reading more and getting to know you guys ! (btw, I grew up in RI but haven't lived there for 23 yrs...... so this is going to be interesting !!)

Some names for you to research in the Providence area:

University Surgical, affiliated with RI Hospital
Drs. Dean Roye, Beth Ryder, and David Harrington

Drs. Dieter Pohl and Jeannine Giovanni, affiliated with Roger Williams Hospital

There's also a bariatric surgeon at Miriam Hospital with a very long first and last name

I don't know who sells what, but you could find that out as you are researching.

Miriam and RI Hospital are part of the Lifespan network of hospitals, so you could research Lifespan to find out about them.

I'm Dr. Ryder's #1 fan.

Dr Pohl sells the Proti drinks and also the Optifast chewable vitamins.  I was given this web address from a patient in Dr Pohl's office: www.nashuanutrition.com.  I don't use the protein shakes anymore but the woman told me you could order them for a little less than at the doc's office.

Good luck with your move!  I have lived in and out of RI all my life and it's ALWAYS interesting when I come back!!!

Hey Jules!

As the saying goes -- I'm off living life.  My weight has stabilized around 115 lbs lost.  In a size 12 pant (14 jean) which was one of my goals.  I'm enjoying food -- not killing myself with it!

Hi Karen, I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Stephen Petteruti. He is a family doc and is certified in bariatrics. His website is http://www.petterutibariatrics.com/  or Petteruti Bariatric Medicine. I know he sells protein bars and shakes as well as vitamins and supplements.

You moved back to RI awhile now, but can hurt to let you know about it. Hope your move went well.

Hi Karen,

Welcome back to Lil Rhody! Sorry for the delay in responding to your post.

As far as I know, Dr. Dieter Pohl and Dr. Jeannine Giovanni are the only bariatric surgeons in RI who accept other surgeons' patients. You can reach his office at (401) 521-6310.

Being a patient of Dr. Pohl and a patient advocate to both docs, I highly recommend them.

They sell Proti shakes in there office, as well as, multi-vitamins.

I sell Bariatric products myself and would be glad to help you with your protein and vitamin choices.

If you're looking for a nutritionist, there are many in RI who are very very good. I, personally, use Heather Gagliardi at Nutrition, Inc. (401) 490-0900.

If you are interested in attending support groups, please check out my profile for the calendar. We have several in RI. It doesn't matter where you had your surgery or who did you surgery. You are welcome to attend support groups at any RI location.

If interested in getting to know some of us on a personal level, please feel free to call me any time. We'll gladly arrange a get-together and chit chat!

Again....welcome back!

Jules

Hi glad to have you back up here. Dr Dean Roye has a wonderful team in RI hospital, he did my BPD biliopancratic diversion (which is a different version of a RNY), he was the best. I highly recommend him. I am not aware that he sells any products though.

Dr Pohl I wonder about, I know there are many people who swear he's great but before he went into this field my husband was a patient of his. Without getting to involved he did a proceedure on my husband in the office that he didn't do correctly. My husband was rushed into the hospital bleeding out and immediately went into surgery. I don't like him.

Good lcuk, what town are you moving to?

Anna
