first i would like to congratulate you on your surgery! Your profile says 2/17/09, but I believe you mean 2010. All I can say is make sure you get ALL your fluids in. You could dehydrate extremely fast. Your supposed to get 64 oz of fluid in normally, but with the diarhea, you should get more than that in. Also, very important to get all your protein in too. Protein shakes count as protein AND fluid. If your still have diarhea tomorrow ( Thursday) I would call Dr. Pohl's office for advice. You may need an anti diarheal medication. But dont take anything without the ok from the surgeons office. Everything is different now after the bypass. Good luck and keep us up to date with you. You did a wonderful thing for yourself with this surgery. Be proud of yourself. Your friend, Eldy
Hi, glad everything went well. As far as the diarrhea goes I had a problem with it too for about a week after surgery. I actually ended up back in the ER for IV fluids because I just couldn't take in as much fluid as I was putting out. Unfortunately the diarrhea can also be caused by the antibiotics they give you during surgery so if it continues you should get check. especially if you are feeling light headed...that's a sign of dehydration. Good luck
