Dealing with everyday life after WLS
I have lost 110.lbs since April 15, and 122.5 lb since feb 1, of this year, The honey moon has passed and I am dealing with how to eat the right way, I would give myself a B+ for a grade, head hunger is easy to confuse hunger,
Sometime my eye's are bigger than my pouch, but i am very active and try to eat the right things, my wife helps alot since she is in the same boat !! my goal of 240 is 37 pds. away !! and I WILL GET THERE!!!
Hi Chris,
I know exactly what you're saying about the honeymoon phase being over. My appetite is back too! Especially with the holidays here! Aaaargh!
I made up an simple acronym that helps me stay on track...
A.C.E.
A-Attend support groups
C-stay Conscious of what I put into my mouth
E-Exercise at least 3-5 days per week
I wish I could say it gets easier once the appetite returns but it doesn't. We just have to do our best to stay on the program we've set for ourselves.
Personally, I weigh myself every morning.
If I notice I'm going a pound up from where I want to be, I (literally) say outloud ACE!
Each time I make a food choice, I think ACE and I end up making a healthier choice.
Each time I just want to sit on my bum, I think ACE and at least go for a walk or get busy around the house or play Wii.
Each time I start feeling invincible, I think ACE and either hit a meeting or call someone.
Sounds kinda weird but it works for me. When I think ACE, I kinda feel like I'm also saying 'I'M in control...I can ACE this'.
Maybe you can come up with a 'magic' word that would work for you. Please share it if you come up with one.
You're doing so well and you and Lisa are truly blessed to have each other by your sides!
Happy Holidays!
Jules
