Hi everyone!

I wanted to say HI to everyone and introduce myself.

I was banded on November 12th by Dr. Roye - he's awesome-  I work as a CNA so my time out of work is longer than most. I'm not due back till December 28th.

My surgery day was not out-patient because I just did not want to wake up fully and I was in trememdous pain. So I was admitted overnight and released at 7:00 pm the following day.  I had a difficult first week or so with the pain. No gas pain but stomach and back pain for some reason.

I finally feel like I turned the corner though.  I feel human again.  Can still feel the port site and I'm going in for my first fill on the 23rd.  I'm hoping my 11 lb loose is only the beginning of a beautiful thing.

I wold love to hear from fellow Rhode Islanders.

Hi Kim!

Welcome to the losers' bench and to the RI forum!

Are you aware of the support group just for bandsters?

It's at Roger Williams Medical Center, 825 Chalkstone Ave., Providence.

3rd Tuesday each month (next meeting is Tuesday, December 15th)

7-9 pm

Kay Auditorium, conference room A

Enter the Main entrance and follow the bright signs!

There's no formal introduction or presentation. It's just bandsters getting together for lots of feedback, ideas and support from really wonderful people!

If you have any questions and/or want to be put on the e-mail reminder list, please send me an email to the address below.

I hope you can make it!

Again...congrats and welcome!

Hello.  My name is Patty and I was just banded on Tuesday.  I'm so glad to hear the pain is normal and passes.  My days are good but the nights are tough.  I was wondering if you have been hungry?  I haven't yet but it's still soon.  Do you have any recommendations for the first few weeks?

Thank you,
Patty

I know I thought the amount of pain I was in was abnormal because I had heard so many people say they were perfectly fine the next day!  It took me about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks till I felt "ok" and at the 3 week mark I felt "good".  Yesterday was 4 weeks and I feel normal again.  I still feel the port but it's not pain, kinda like yea I know it's there and sore but nothing major at all.

I didn't get hungry till I was about 2 weeks out. I stuck with the plan of clears for the first week and full liquids the second week. Just had protein shakes, pudding, jello, I did add v8 juice and I drank broth and crystal light.  I started getting hungry about 3 weeks out and now I'm "HUNGRY" ... I am getting my first fill the 23rd and I really can't wait.

Let me know if I can help with anything else.

I'm going to the meeting next week at Roger Williams to try and get more insight from previous and experienced bansters as well.
