No way my health insurance will pay for weight loss surgery. I am so upset. I just can't afford $13,000 for the surgery.

It is not a covered service. It will pay for the testing but not the surgery. I have UH through General Dymantics

I asked him and he said they have tried before with laywers and all and if it is not in the contract then there is nothing anyone can do.
He said they have a payment plan, not sure how his works. Ashamed to say our credit is not very good. We just got ourself's out of debt not sure if we can afford a monthly payment again. I am at a loss as what to do now. This was my last hope.

Hi. I was in the same position. My company is self insured and has written it in as a complete exclusion so there was no way they would pay. I ended up having the banding because it was more affordable for me than the bypass. My advice is to make sure you find out ALL of the costs up front if you decide to move forward.
When I spoke with Dr. Roye's office they gave me a price of $3400 - $3700 for the surgery. I asked several times if there were any other associated costs. They never told me to contact RIH to find out their fees. I got a call from RIH the day before my surgery telling me I would owe $17,000 and had to make a payment of $8,000 before the surgery.
Needless to say I was an absolute mess but did end up moving forward. Hopefully you will not have any surprises like I did.
Good luck,
Patty
