FINALLY HOME!!!
Hello everyone!! Well I am finally home. I got home yesterday at about 6 pm. I have to say i am feeling pretty good, but the liquid vicatin (sp?) probably has something to do with how i am feeling as well. My stay at Rhode Island Hospital got off to a rough start int he step down ICU, but Dr Roye assured me that the people that needed a "good chewing" got it. So that makes me feel better, When I finally got to the regular COOP floor, that was better with the exception of a few of the staff, but what can you do? I had a fantastic nurse for more than 50% of the time I was there, so that was awesome! My wife was there everyday for me and on friday even went into work late b/c she ripped into the step down ICU nurse as well. I love my wife, she is the bestest! My dad was also there everyday except yesterday but that was cool seeing as he lives 2 hrs away and had to rest for work, plus he has a bad back, so it was alot for him. My father in law was there everyday as well, mom in law had to work but she called me everyday so that was awesome as well. I am just so happy to be home and on the losers bench now.
I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who have sent well wishes to me, Michele printed them out and brought them to me at the hospital. I will see you all soon at a support group meeting. thanks again

Hi Brian!
Welcome to the losers' bench!
Sorry to hear about the bad times while at the hospital but it sounds like you have a lot of great people in your corner for the fight and to help you with your journey!
I'm glad you're feeling good. Meds or not, do what you have to do to limit the pain. Move around as much as you can and sip, sip, sip tha****er!
See you at the support groups!

Thanks guys i appreciate it. I have been sipping all day. and protein, so far so good. though i wont hit my goal today, but pretty close and seeing as its my first day home, thats pretty damn good, by the time i am done with what i am working on now, i will have had 44 ounces of fluid and 74 g of protein. i will end up with a little more fluid but may not have more protein today, but still, seeing as the goal is 80-100 and this is my first day, i think i have done pretty darn well. Anyway, thanks again!

Welcome home, Brian. I am so glad everything worked out. Now you have an interesting surgery story to tell! LOL Its all going to be amazing from this point on. I still pinch myself sometimes. When you count your fluids, you include the protein shakes. Are you doing that? Hey, if it seems obvious to you, sorry about that. It wasn't for me. LOL It was like a lightbulb went off when someone told me! Of course, I DO dye my hair blonde so I guess I fit the bill! Take care and onward to a healthier you!! Eldy
Thanks Eldy! Yes i do count anything that is a runny fluid ast room temp as fluids, so proteins, broths, ect...its all liquids. That is probably the most important part i think I took away from my pre-op group meeting that i HAD to attend. it makes perfectly good sense b/c how are you suppose to get 48-64 oz of fluids plus all the protein. I love the fact that my 20 oz isopure gives me practically 1/3 of my fluids and almost half of my protein. It all works for me. Thanks again and I am finding my spot on the bench to be quite comfy.
