Ode to a meatball !

Ok so I took spaghetti and meatballs for my meal to work last night. And the meatballs (2 small) got stuck.  I chewed them really well before I swallowed them and they still got stuck.  So I had to go into the bathroom and "get rid of them".  I don't know if my break partner could tell what i was doing or what, but she came in to make sure i was ok.  Now thats not TOO embarrassing!   I am totally bummed that I still can't eat meatballs!  Maybe they are just too dry.  I don't know,  but i know I will probably try again in a few months.  So today I am relaxing my esophogus by drinking my protein shakes.  I haven't had that in a while and i have to say, i really enjoyed it.  I was totally surprised by that.  Ok,  thats all.  I'm done. Thanks for listening. LOL

Hi Eldy,

Have you tries turkey meatballs??? They have some great ones at Trader Joes that are frozen and flame broiled. They go down pretty easy when broken up with some sauce.

Just a thought!

Thanks Lisa,   I haven't tried those.  They sound good.  I will have to pick up some.

Hey Eldy,

I have a problem with meatballs too so I basically smoosh them to little tiny pieces into the sauce. I think they are just too bulky/dry to handle.

It's funny, I do fine with meatloaf though. Weird.

Glad you're still thinking about getting your protein in when you're having problems with solids. Good job!

I had a craving for meatballs a while back and had the same concern since burgers can do that to me.  I opted to try a couple from Venda and with lots of sauce was able to handle without any problems.  Meanwhile one of my friends is over Five years out and still can not handle.  I guess we just have to keep trying different things to see what works for us.
Sorry for your experience.

Funny how unpredictable and variant our pouches can be.  They only way I can do meatballs is with plenty of sauce, otherwise they're too dry.  Will second Lisa on the turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's ....great taste, great price and so easy to keep on hand in the freezer and prepare even for a quickie meal.
