Update: 2 weeks post-op
Hey All!
Cathy did such a wonderful job on updating everyone on my surgery and I've kinda dropped the ball on the follow-up. So here goes.
I am doing really well! Following the diet that was in Dr. G's handy dandy booklet (bible) and the only thing I had a problem with was my first night of soup. I tried watered down tomato and I guess my pouch said, "Ut-uh, you ain't putting that here yet!" I didn't dump but my pouch made it pretty uncomfortable for a few hours.
I'm walking a couple times a day. I started at going around the block 2-3 times a day and handled that really well so now I'm doing about 15 minutes out 3 times a day. I'm on my own this week (hubby was with me all last week) and I know I'll be fine but a bit worried. What if I fall, trip, etc? ~shrugs~ I figure I'm pretty much healed on the outside, just worry about doing something on the inside. With the cooler weather, I can walk a bit longer and still feel really good. Taking the dog to the Woods and letting her run around has been fun, too!
The scales are going down nicely...about 1/2 to 1 pound a day. I did notice if I get all my protein and water in, I lose more. Calories are still sitting under 500 a day but I'm consistently getting at least 50 g of protein and 60 oz of fluid/water in a day. I've got the vitamin regime down and just moving along!
Thank you for all the encouragement and support over the last few weeks! Cathy has been a wonderful "Angel" and I can't wait to be an Angel for someone! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! Jules and Romeo have been great with all their support and encouragement and I thank you both, too!
I've got a few clothes for the clothing swap at this month's Living Life Support Group meeting so I'll be happy to see those things leave!
Enjoy the Fall weather!

Wow Kelly jo, you are doing amazing. Keep up the good work. I have to say that I still can't have tomato soup. I don't know if its the acid in it or what but it makes my stomach uncomfortable. So i just skip it. There are so many other things that you will be able to have. I can have speghetti sauce though. So when you are ready go ahead and try it. The soup does not mean you can't have anything with tomatoes in it. Not only that, but later (like months) you can try the soup again, and you might not have a problem. Its all trial and error. A continuous learning experience. But, you know, i kinda like that. Its "adventurous"! LOL Take care and keep us up to date! Eldy
Hey there Kelly Jo!
You're doing so well! I am truly impressed! The walking, drinking water and getting your protein in...wow! You're doing great!!!
And you're already an Angel! Just by sharing your experiences and strength here and at meetings! You're helping others who have not walked this journey yet!
Keep it comin' KJ!
Love ya!
Jules
