Hello everyone,
First off Congratulations to everyone for making this very scary decision to have bariatric surgery of any kind. I know how hard it was for me to make this personal decision and I wish you all the best throughout your surgery  post op and preop.
I am having my surgery at Miriam hospital and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how there personal experience was there? Any advice tips? Thank you , my surgery is in 10 days!!!

Kim,
I didn't have my surgery there, but i wanted to give you some encouragement from a view of the surgery 9 years out.  WOW!!!!!  I have maintained my loss of 140 lbs. and i would do it again.  I'm happier, healthier, and still amaze people when they see my before and afters.  Trust your doctor, do what you are supposed to do to the letter, and take good care of YOURSELF.

I had a good experience at the Miriam. I'm also an RN and can be VERY critical of hospitals and nursing care. I only had one nurse who wasn't  THAT great but she didn't make a difference in the care I recieved. Best of luck to you!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~Kim

I had my Realize band "installed" by Dr. V at Miriam back in May of this year.  I have no complaints at all about my experience.  The only thing that actually is a little funny about my time there is that all the nurses are these tiny little things!  I got a chuckle with the little things having to help move around and support "the heavy's".

Kim ~ Hello and congratulations as you move to becoming a healthier you.  I'm a Miriam "graduate" and I too had an overall positive experience.
Guessing you're getting things ready for your hospital stay and I would definitely recommend bringing a few of protein drinks/scoops of protein powder with you.  Miriam was big on chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast as an intro to protein drinks and it just had no appeal to me.  So think it's good to have other options.  You don't need a lot as you won't be taking in all that much those first few post-op days.

Hi Kim,
Good luck on your up coming surgery. I too had Surgery at Miriam. I had a very positive experience as well. I am also a nurse and VERY critical of nursing. So I would anticipate you will have a satisfying stay. The only complaint I had was the barium swallow 1 day post op. I believe there would be an easier/less painful way! And the tech's didn't know we can't use a straw and only sip small amounts, I had to tell them everything. And they were going to use the carbonatede drink first I had to say NO............
