Hello everyone,
My surgery is TUE Oct 13th, 10 days away, I am so excited,  nervous and all of the above lol. I have an appointment on Monday or a pre op " class" rather. Then I have an appt to meet with Dr V on thursday as well.
I am nervous because I am reading a lot of posts regarding weight loss before surgery...I was not told to go on any special diet or lose weight before surgery, and I have been eating whatever I want! When I go for the class on Monday, I will only be 8 days away from surgery, what if I gained a ton of weight? I have no clue...should I be concerned? Thanks guys!

Since every doctor has a different protocol, I'd call the office Monday and ask.  That's the only way you'll know for sure.

BTW, congrats on your surgery!

I agree with what Deb said. Each doc does things differently. And each patient is different as well. So, that said, your doc may not require you (individually) to follow a certain program prior to surgery.

I don't think the two docs in that office require a pre-surgery diet. But definitely call and ask about your individual needs.

And remember that just because you may not be required to be on a pre-op diet, doesn't mean that you should go hog wild on all that food! Now is the time to really focus on preparing yourself for the routine you will have to follow after your surgery. It'll make things easier in the long run.

If you have any questions, Amy, Megan & Jocelyn at Dr. V's office will help you in any way they can! Give them a call!

Let us know how you're doing, k?

Hi

The office is very conservative about gaining weight. However, you would have been told to lose weight, like my husband who gained during all the pre-tests, before they scheduled the surgery.
How much weight have you gained??? I stayed the same throughout so had no problems.

If you gained more than 4-5 lbs, I would call the office. Unless it is a large amount, I wouldn't worry!

Thanks everyone I appreciate the support and I will definitely keep you up to date on how I am doing along the way. I have not been going crazy by all means however I have not been on a strict liqued diet or anything. Regardless of there requirements I was going to start a liqued diet on Tuesday which would be one week prior to my surgery. I think I have gained 10lbs in the last 7 months. And maybe a pound or two since my last appointments which was like a month ago.
Thanks Guys,
Kim
P.s. I figured that if I needed to be on a special diet they would have told me...but eithr way I have an appointment on Monday so I will be sure to ask then.

Your surgery will be here before you know it!!  It's normal to have all of those feelings, so go with the flow.  Since you will be seeing your surgeon soon, write down all those nervous and excited questions to ask. That helps!

As for the special diet, all surgeons are different.  I'd ask again at your appointment but it sounds like that's the norm for your surgeon.  Check, just to be sure.

We are all rooting for you and will be wiping off another spot for you on the Loser's bench!

Good luck!
