Pain in stomach

Hello Everyone!!! Looking for Help/insight here?  

I have been suffering with pain in my stomach for a little over a month now.  Originally thought it was due to travel/diet changes but when it did not correct after I got back to my routine and started to get worse I consulted my Dr.  Well I have gone through several tests now and am on two meds but still have pain in my stomach whenever I eat or drink ANYTHING I have sharp pain that turns to a ache that at times is very debilitating.  I feel best either laying down or sitting with my knees to my chest, basically in a ball.  I had a ultrasound that did not show an issue with the Gallbladder, and just completed a more detailed test on it today.  I am on meds for GERD/Ulcer with no relief yet.  Hopeful that we will find a cause before the exploratory surgery stage so looking for any advice or if anyone else has had this type of pain.

Hey Cynthia - sorry you are having issues - that's no fun. Around a year out I had something similar but it was a sudden onset of pain in my abdomen right around my belly button and it was so bad that I couldnt even stand up straight or lay down flat - I'm hoping that you havent been dealing with a month of that type of pain however, it was noticeably worse after drinking/eating anything even with the sudden onset. It turned out that my intestines had twisted and were herniating themselves - I had to have emergency surgery the same day I went to Dr Giovanni's office. I wonder if your's is something similar but maybe it's twisting and then untwisting itself (which is common) - I had a CAT scan where you drink the barium stuff and that is what showed the twist... Go to the dr when you are having the pain and insist on a CAT Scan...

 Thanks for the tip.  My pain is suite a bit higher but will talk with the Dr. about having a cat Scan.

Well, it sounds to me like you got some pretty good advice here.  I have had stomach pain off and on that doubles me over.  It is a sharp pain that hits me and then goes away.  Come to find out ( thru experience) that its gas pain.  I never had gas pain like that before the surgery.  Sometimes its so bad that my husband wants me to go to the hospital, but as soon as everything gets eliminated... i am good.  It just sucks.  Now I don't know if you could be experiencing something like that, but I think if you were, you would have figured it out by now.  So good luck and I hope they find out what is causing it and that it is a minor thing to remedy!  Keep us posted, Cynthia!  Take care!   Your friend, Eldy

I wish you weren't going through any pain. You don't deserve it.

Does Dr. P think it could be a stricture? You may end up with an endoscopy. Sometimes the scar tissue around our stoma and/or pouch can cause some pulling that can be painful when our pouch gets stretched. It's a fairly simple fix. Hopefully, that's all it is.

 Thanks to all who have posted, talked through this or listened to my complaints!  Just to update everyone I am heading in for exploratory surgery next Friday the 25th so hopefully Dr. P will find the cause and correct this pain!  I am so glad to see th end to this pain is in sight but scared at the same time to be going into surgery and have no idea what they will need to do.  I just have to have faith that all will happen as god intends and I am in his hands for this journey.
