Hi everyone!!

I am about to start bring  the two week pre-op diet and I realize that I have no idea what to the hospital.  Should I bring my own gowns or use the hospital ones? what about the shakes should I bring my own to have on the third day? If I am scheduled for 6am how long do I really wait for surgery and is the surgery usually around 90 minutes?  Also on Tuesday I am going for all the pre op testing what should I expect? What kinds of test do they perform?

Thanks for any help!

Hi
I had my surgery this past tuesday at RWMC.  You have to wear the hospital gowns for the first 2 or so days, but thena fter that you can (or I did) wear my own Pajamas.  I also brought my own shakes, the nurses took them and kept them for me in the frige on the floor where I was.  I was scheduled for 6 am surgery.  I went in and was in the or by 7:30. In recovery by 10:30.(OR was scheduled for 3 hrs)
Pre op testing is easy.  they take some blood, do a chest x ray and you meet with the ansthesieologist (sp?) and thats it.  very easy.

Thaks for the info!  Do you really get to drink your shakes? Also can someone stay with you through the night?

yes I wouldn't fib.  I have no idea about someone staying thru the night..my guess is that you really dont want anyone to stay with you...I didnt really even want visitors to tell you the truth.
