Weigh****chers
So some may think I'm nuts but I joined Weigh****chers ...... again for the 15th time.
So know your probably wondering why. Well here is the deal .........
We all have each other for support and I am truely grateful for that, but my dad is quite over weight and not interested in discussing surgical options but wants to lose weight. We did weigh****chers together from 1990 - 1992 and both got to goal weight (lost almost 200 lbs and gained it all back plus some). Over the years prior to surgery we would go together. Well he's been talking about needing to lose weight but didn't want to go it alone so I have signed up for the next 3 months to go with him to support him on his journey.
I was up front and honest and told the leader I had RNY that in fact I had 2 WLS since 2006. She was my original group leader and knows me and my family very well. We discussed my calorie & protein in-take and came up with a plan to work for me and my NUT is on board as well. I get 23 points a day and have 30 - 40 lbs to lose as of last Friday's weigh in which is about right.
My personal goal since 2006 was to get between 170 - 180 and I'm at 187 lbs right now. Those wonderful medical charts say I should be 140 - 155 so I have listed 150 as my goal at weigh****chers and on my ticker. I'm gonna try to get there but first I am working toward the 170 and taking it one day at a time.
The group leader asked if she could share with the group that I had WLS and I was fine with it, and a lot of people had questions. Some were surprised that after surgery you still have to watch what you eat ..... just goes to show not everyone is educated on the procedures and that this is NOT an easy way out

Wow, thats really interesting. I think that its really great that you are there for your father. And I am glad that the leader is so understanding about your situation. It is amazing how people still think that you have the surgery and BOOM you lose weight...taha! So, its good that you can educate a few more people who will have a new respect for us WLSers. Good luck to you. You have been through so much and yet you still have the positive attitude to succeed. I know that you will do well and i wish you great success! See you soon! Eldy
Hey Sweetie!
You brought this up at the RW meeting. At that time I thought it was a wonderful thing you were doing for/with your dad. But now I see it works both ways. You support each other. What a great relationship! Good for you!
Glad to see you are keeping constant vigilance and working what ever program works for you and you're doing it in a healthy manner.
You're truly Blessed!
Love ya,
Jules
