I have tried numerous protein shakes since post surgery(2 months) I dislike them all...have tried adding banana's, raspberries, peanut butter, they still come out with that foam on top that is horrible,
am I making them wrong or is that what it is just horrible?

lol... I think the general consesus is that they're all pretty horrible.

I'm also using Muscle Milk (Chocolate) now instead of only the big tub of chocolate protein from GNC.  Since I'm getting the pre-made, not the powder you don't get that weird foam.   It's alot more like chocolate milk ... Although it doesn't have as much protein as the powder.

Since I'm stuck with the big tub 'o protein I did find that if you use an immersion blender to mix, it tastes alot better - smoother!

I totally agree!!!  I wasted so much money on those shakes and all I can do is smell them and I start to gag!  I switched to carnation instant breakfast sugar free with simply smart milk.  Not as much protein, but at least I can get them down...and it's cheaper!  The foam is nasty!!

Good Luck!!!

Have you tried using some skim milk with water instead of jus****er?  I mix mine with 4 oz of water, 6 oz skim milk, and 4 ice cubes.  I use a blender.  Are you just putting in a cup and shaking it?

I am putting it in the blender and using a combo of skim milk and water, maybe I need the ice cubes, It sure makes it tough to get all your protein in when they taste so bad.

Romeo:

For me, the ice cubes definitely thicken things.  You might like it that way better.  As Sandpan mentions below, I've also tried SF instant pudding, which thickens and adds to the taste.

Romeo ~ Hello.  It's indeed quite a challenge to find a protein shake that tastes good and this really is very personal to each of our tastes.
Putting it in the blender is going to make it foamy, have you tried the cup with the Blender Ball?  You can find them at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe or you can take a peek for them online at Amazon.
It took me a while to find proteins I liked and finally settled on Unjury, Click and some of the flavors from  Bariatric Eating.
Like the other poster I enjoy the shakes much more when I combine water, skim milk and ice.  I also play around with different flavors of the sugar free syrups mixed in a vanilla or chocolate protein powder.  My other favorite is to mix in some of the sugar free instant pudding mix.

Hope these ideas help.  Keep the faith ....you'll find a protein that's at least tolerable if not even yummy.

i personally like the eas advantage shakes in chocolate... mixed in a blender with a few ice cubes... it seems that is the only shake i can tolerateother than the carnation instant breakfast with fat free milk and ice mixed the same way.

hope this helps...
you can find the shakes in a 4pack at walmart for 4.99...anywhere else sold at 7.99

take care

Hey Romeo!

I completely understand not liking protein shakes!!! Gross! For the most part!

I highly recommend....

Nectar by Syntrax - They come in a variety of flavors such as Twisted Cherry, Caribbean Cooler (tastes like a pina colada), Strawberry Kiwi, Apple Ecstacy (green apple), cappuccino, crystal sky, fuzzy navel, fruit punch, strawberry mousse, chocolate truffle, non-flavored and more! Even the french vanilla and chocolate flavors are better than any others of the many I've tried!

I mix these with jus****er. Each scoop is 90 calories and packs 23 grams of protein!

I order this through www.vitalady.com (you can even order samples for $1.99 before you commit to buy something you may not like) or buy it at my local Bally's Gym.

Pure Protein by WorldWide - I love these thick shakes because they don't have a protein after taste and they are good on-the-go! They come in Banana Cream, Strawberry, Chocolate, Cookies 'n Cream and French Vanilla. I get them at GNC on Newport Avenue in Pawtucket/E. Providence (Stop & Shop Plaza).

Also, once you're about six months or so out and are comfortable with it...the Pure Protein bars are an awesome addition to the three meals a day we eat if we wish to get more protein in and a lil' snacky in! I like these when I have a grouchy pouch and am having a hard time getting in protein for the day.

Let me know the next meeting you're attending,,,I'll be sure to bring some for you to try!

Jules
