Hi Everyone!
I just had surgery on the 20th and am looking forward to going back to curves. I've been walking 2 miles a day, but look forward to something different...but i'm afraid of hurting myself. Doc says 4 to 6 weeks, but i'm petrified of doing anything strenuous EVER for fear of messing up my band. Anyone here feel the same way?

Hi Jess! Congrats on your new band! Sounds like you are doing awesome! I don't even walk that much ( and I should)! I had originally wanted to get the band and I had concerns too. I do karate. I was afraid that I couldn't do it anymore in fear of being kicked there and all. But I was reassured that there was no danger and that I could resume karate when I would be healed ( about 4 weeks after surgery). So I would just take it easy right now and let yourself heal from MAJOR surgery. Then resume to curves when you are cleared. At 2 week visit with Dr. G she said I could do any form of exercise after 4 weeks. By the way, my choice for bypass had nothing to do with exercise. It was do to medical reasons. Good luck! Sounds like you will do just fine. Take care! Eldy

Hi Jess,
I had my band done on the 26th and should probably be walking more than I am. 2 miles a day is great, your an inspiration!!
It's a weird feeling with the port, a constant feeling that you'regoing to break it or hurt yourself in some way.
I'm partial to working out in the water myself being the Aquatic Director for a YMCA : ) You should look into some Aqua Aerobic classes. They're really fun, and if you get the right instructor you'll get just as good of a workout as curves, if not better.
The hard part is waiting to get back in the pool. 3-4 weeks is what I was told
