I'm new... again. + Protein question
Hi Everyone,
I'm finding myself back on this site again. I was supposed to have Lap-Band surgery over a year ago but I was let go from my job and COBRA was too expensive to consider just for the surgery. After that I got depressed and never found my way back here.
Anyways, on to the positive!
I had the Realize band surgery this past Tuesday (26th)!! I'm still in some moderate pain, and definitely have some soreness. I'm excited and would love to get more involved here : )
I have a big tub of protein powder we picked up Wednesday from GNC but the taste is so horrible. Does anyone know of any other protein packed liquids I could pick up locally? (That taste decent)
Thanks!!

I've recently got turned on to Muscle Milk Light Cookies and Creme. It's available at Vitamin World in Warwick Mall. It's 25 grams of protein in two scoops for 195 calories. It's a little sweet, I'll warn you, but I like that frankly. I put it in the blender with 4 ice cubes, 4 ozs of water and 6 ozs of skim milk. With the milk, that's 31 grams of protein and 255 calories.
Regarding the GNC tub, I asked the guy when I bought the Muscle Milk that if I didn't like it could I bring it back. He said absolutely as long as I had the slip. Maybe GNC has the same policy? It's worth a shot if you've still got the slip.

I buy syntrax nectars, but I buy them online... I think I saw them in the window at Peformane Nutrition, but you can call first to see what they have.

Welcome back and congratulations on your band! I use Advance Fortress from Target (26g of protein in 1 scoop). It too comes in a big jug container. Its 14.99 and I make it with 6 oz of water, ice cubes and 2 tsps of unsweetened cocoa powder. I like the chocolate one. Also, one of my favorites is the vanilla. I again use 6 oz of water, ice, but I add a banana to it instead and make a banana shake. YUM!
But if you want to doctor up a chocolate... i suggest unsweetened cocoa powder! Good luck!
