hey guys...

i am having a hard time with the fluid intake...
i am only getting down a 1/4 of a shake and approximately 1 waterbottle  A DAY!
i know this isn't enough, and i dont want to tell the dr, cuz they will put me back in the hospital, and i dont want that. (i had to cut a deal with him on my release because of this)
i know i am on the road of dehydration, and keep trying everyday. however, if i force it, it makes me sick...
any suggestions??????????????

i am taking a complete vitamin (flinstones) 2x day along with the benefiber water, 2 viactives and a prevacid. does this sound right????

i am tired of being tired...and my husband has me on home confinement...afraid if i drive i will pass out....
i also want to start exercising soon..atleast start walking!!!!!!!

well, thanks for listening...

take care

 Linda-

While I appreciate that you do not want to go to the hospital, You are not getting nearly enough protein or fluid with what you are taking in and are putting your organs/life at risk.  Please contact the Dr. immediately to get some iv fluids.  You can not let this go on.

Linda ~ Hello.  It can be a struggle to get all the fluids and protein in when you first get home, but it sounds like things are kind of extreme there for you.  Like Cynthia said you need to be very cautious and not put your overall health at risk.  And as much as you want to exercise, drive and get back to routine you might just be at risk to pass out from dehydration.
Can you figure out why you're having such a hard time?  Is it because nothing is appealing? Is it pain when you do try to drink?  Are you gulping vs. trying to sip throughout the day?
I know for me when I first came home from surgery that I found it a challenge to just sit down and sip water too.  Found I was able to get fluids in with sugar free Popsicles and sugar free freeze pops.  For you it could be sugar free jello or some decaf tea.  Try to experiment with different fluids to see what feels good to you.
Good luck and please take care of yourself.

I have heard, that for some people, water makes them sick.  They do better when it is crystal light or something - try that.  I would worry about your fluid intake over protein right now.  That is number 1.

Try drinking plain skim milk and see how that goes - you could be lactose intolerant- then you know you should switch to soy.  If you have no issues with the skim, get the skim plus - the kind that tastes like 1% and has more protein.  I know my hubby bought this for me from Daves Market.  This will add to your fluids and give you some natural protein without weighing your stomach down.

Then slowly add small tiny amounts of protein - like a tsp et****il you can tolerate more.  Some is better than none.   - also, what type of protein are you drinking?  I found that thick shakes make me want to hurl.  I like Syntrax nectars because of this.  They have traditional cappucino, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry flavors and they are thin.  I mix these with milk or soy milk (the cappucino half water half milk)

They also have fruit juice flavors - I mix these with water and sf kool aid.  I also add way more water than they say because I like them thin and not too sweet. You can contact the company and they will send you samples.  I have lemon tea, twisted cherry, and cappucino.  Where do you live?  I can bag some up for you.  I live in Warwick - pm me if you want.
Johanna - like Joe-on-uh, or that movie, Juwanna Man!
