12 Days til surgery...........Nervous
When I got my date I had 10 weeks to wait until surgery! Now I have 12 days to go. Was feeling pretty normal until last weekend, now I'm a nervous wreck!!!. Not nervous in bad way but the kind of nerves like when you're going for a long awaited trip to Disney World!!! My emotions are all over the place. I called out sick last Sunday from work because I had some nervous stomach issues!! I've been waking up every night in the middle of the night. I went for my pre-op labs on Monday and see the surgeon at 1pm today. Then just have several more sleepless nights. Think I have all my ducks in a row for surgery and after. Any thought on how to RELAX!!!!!Thanks~~~~~~Kim
Yippie Skippie!!! 12 days to go! My surgery is June 10th and I am nervous one moment and then thinking it is forever away. I have been keeping myself busy getting ready. Cleaning my house, buying cases of water, making arrangements for my pets. For every 5 lbs. I loose on the liquid diet (which I started early because I figured the more I lost the better) I am treating myself. 2 more until I earn a pedicure! Treat yourself! You are so worth it. Good luck.
My surgery is 6/2 and I am nervous not so much about the surgery but about all the "what ifs" floating in my head when I am not staying busy enough to NOT think about all the litte "what ifs". I won't share my what ifs with anyone as I don't want to give anyone else anything to worry about but I can tell you that with being a nurse going into surgery, it's a two-edged sword, great that I know what to look for and not so great with the knowledge base of being a nurse. So I can definitely relate to the nervousness issue. Even my boss asked me today if I was getting worried about the surgery. We had a talk about my fears and worries and that helped but once I am not busy again, I am sure I will have some nagging "what ifs" again. I try to stay focused and not worry because I trust my surgeon implicitly but being human I still worry....that's our problem, we're human. As for how to relax, I listen to music, watch funny TV shows, ride my bike, just chill out playing with my 12-week old kitten and all those things help.
Hang in there, you are not in this alone :-)

I know the feeling! I had my surgery today and I had a lot of sleepless nights! I could get to sleep fine, but kept waking up. I found that if I did some breathing and relaxation exercises in bed it was sometimes helpful....good luck!!

Thanks guys for all the well wishes.......now it's 8 days to surgery. Calming down a bit but have a nasty cse of laryngitis from my stupid allergies. Yesterday was the worst but slightly better today. Now I just want to be well for surgery. That someone who watches over me is trying my nerves right now!!!!! ~~~~~~Kim
