I was going to sign up at WoW, but I think that their sales tactics are shady... I do love the fact that they have child care though.  What gym do you use and how much is it?  Any others that have child care?

Dont' know about child care, but Planet Fitness has a "black card" membership, this allows you discounts on stuff in the cooler, free tanning, the ability to bring a 'guest' with you as many times as you want, every DAY if you want for free, and (why I chose it) the ability to go to ANY ANY ANY worldwide PF as a 'visiting black card' if you're away from home. I go to about 3 different PF's around here, depending on what I'm doing or if I'm meeting someone. Its fantastic.

I felt the same way about the sales people at WOW.   They wouldn't even let me leave.  They kept trying to make more deals and more deals.  It was worse than being at a car dealership.  I have never had that kind of pressure when I have bought a car.   I belong to the YMCA.  But the kids are really involved with the Y.   That Planet Fitness sounded really good!   Good luck!  Eldy

PS - Rhiannon721 is looking for a workout buddy and she belongs to Planet Fitness with a black card too.  Maybe you'all could work something out!

I belonged to the Planet Fitness that used to be in Garden City -- loved it.  I've gone to the Bally's in East Providence, too.  Once I got by all the hard bodies and just got my mind focused on my goals, I was good to go.  That Bally's has a lot to offer -- you should check it out.  Can't speak to the fees - it has been a while for me.

I use the Bally's in East Providence.  My hubby purchased the membership for me last August where I proceeded to hurt my back from doing too much and now have to have surgery!  ~smile~

I'll go back there for rehab; I've been using the pool for the water-walking.  I'll use it more after I have my surgery, for sure.

If I recall, the cost was about $250 for the year but they have a great facility.

I don't have small children so I can't tell you what the child care situation is there.

Good luck!

I was going to the y, before surgery but canceled my membership because the childcare is first come first serve... you cannot sign up for it in advance so it is really inconvenient.  I do like the y - but if I need childcare and cannot get it, it is pointless for me.

I also use Planet Fitness and have black card as well for $19.99 a month with no joining fee.  Like the fact I can hit any location I want, and I can bring a guest with me to my "home" location at anytime.  Plus I take advantage of the tanning, massage chair, and discounts on beverages.

I don't think they have a child care program though, never noticed kids while I've been at any but never asked cause we don't have any children.
