Hey brother!  What I can suggest(and not syaing that you don't do this already) is make sure you chew chew chew that food and you are giving yourself a reasonable amount of time to consume the food. No matter what I am eating I make sure I don't eat it quicker than a half hour(this works for me) So yes I will have like turkey and cheese for lunch with soy crisps but don't eat it quicker than half hr which seems odd but hey it works.

Just over the weekend I had some turkey and cheese and ate it in like 10-15 mins(cuz I am a dope) and sure enough I had to get rid of it...same thing pain in the chest, esp when trying to take deep breaths...once I lost it I was fine...

So again make sure your chewing and make sure your not eating the total amount of food too quickly...just my .02 brother!

Hey there!  Rob is right.  You really have to chew your food to a liquid consistency.  Then while you chew, put your fork/food down and wait.  Try to enjoy the taste of the food and also the company you have or the atmosphere to keep you from taking a bite too early.  I've had that happen a few times myself.  Usually cause I am hungry when I start and eat too fast.  I have swallowed my food and realized I didn't chew that well and thought "uh oh".   But it is a learning time.  You'll be a pro in no time!     Eldy

Het Chris, So funny you posted tonite. I was just wondering how you were doing. I'm 2 1/2 weeks away from my surgery. Getting a little nervous/anxious but keeping busy. Monday pre-op bloodwork and pre-op class, Wednesday last appt with Dr Sax. WOW- time flies when you get OLD!!!!!! Sorry to hear about your little problems but glad things are good overall. Take care and hope to see you at a meeting this month!!!!~~~~~~~Kim
PS- How did you wife do playing nurse when you first got home, Maybe she can give my husband pointers.

I'm sorry to hear you are having a small bump in the road.  Everything that I have read states that you must chew everything until it's 'soup like consistancy'.  Maybe the pieces are too big?

I hope you figure it out and keep doing well.
