One More Day! Worried about laryngitis!

Hello All,
Just wanted to share my excitement with the people who understand!!  In about 24 hours I will be getting ready for my surgery.  I will be banded tomorrow at 10:30 and can't wait.  I am worried, however, that there is a chance he won't do the surgery tomorrow.  My allergies kicked up yesterday and I barely have a voice and have a dry, tickly cough.  No fever or other symptoms.  What do you think??  Will Dr. Pohl postpone because of laryngitis??  I don't know if I can take any allergy meds with the preop liquids today.  I know...I should call the office but I am afraid if they hear my voice, they will definitely cancel.  HELP!!!!

hi!  How exciting and nerve wracking to be so close to your surgery date!  I was also scared to get sick before my surgery.  I avoided anyone who had a sniffle or even cleared their throat!  That said,  my opinion is,  they know its allergy season.  And if they cancel or actually postpone your surgery, it is for your benefit and safety.  They would only do that if they felt it put you in danger.  I really don't think that you want to risk your life any more than just having the surgery.  Having a little disappointment yet knowing that the surgeon is looking into your best interest should mean alot to you.    Your surgeon has done hundreds of  surgeries.  Knowing its just allergies, they maytell you what to take and what not to take before surgery.  And since your surgery is tomorrow, you should call very soon.  He may say you need to take something a day before, you wait too long and you won't be able to do that.  And THAT may postpone your surgery.  Better safe than sorry.  Good luck.   Keep us posted on what happens.  I will keep my fingers crossed that you will still have your surgery tomorrow.  Eldy

Hi!

I'm sorry, I have to agree with what Eldy said. Better to be safe than sorry and call today incase you CAN take something now to prevent cancellation tomorrow.

I wish you luck.

Again, as Eldy said, please let us know how things work out for you, k?

Fingers crossed all is a 'GO'!

I did call the office today - crackly voice and all - and questioned whether I can take something. They called me back and told me that I could take anything "over the counter."  Thanks for your wisdom...I know you are both right.  The thought of postponement is killing me though!!  They already have a sub for me at school and everything is set.  Keep those fingers crossed for me.  The hospital called and told me to come in an hour and a half earlier than they had previously told me.  So now I need to arrive at 7:30...

BTW - Jules, love the hair!

Everything went very well...got to my room around 1:00 and asked to take a little walk around 5:00.  Yayyy!  I feel really good despite the post anesthesia grogginess and headache.  I am so happy to be done with this phase and moving on to the rest of my life.  Thanks for all the support and tips I get on this site.  You are all great.
