For those who have gone before me (LOL) what should I bring to the hospital? What did you bring and not need? What did you wish you would have brought?

Thanks!

Liza

Men.....lol

Ok here's a list that Ive put together in the past few weeks.
comfy PJ's, slippers, a book or i pod or whatever you're into, of course toothbrush and paste, add the mouthwash, whatever else you'd bring for toiletries,  big comfy clothes to wear home, shoes that are easy to get into (Im not planning on bending over too much to tie things), Also some of those gas X baby drops Ive heard of that are said to work well with our new tummies, I remember Rob saying to bring some of the shakes you like cuz you might not like the ones you get at the hospital...and I think thats it...anyone else want to expand?

Excellent suggestions here!

Here are a few more...

~A good brush and a scrunchy for you hair

~Your favorite lotion

~Chapstick or lip moisturizer

~Light bathrobe and comfy slippers for walking ( you WILL be walking)

~Your own  pillow (with a pillow case other than white so housekeeping doesn't take)

~A watch (have hubby hold on to it until you're out of recovery and can wear it)

~Your cell phone (with my phone number in it  Girl With Gum)

~ Comfy underwear (unless you're planning to go commando)! Old Man

One thing to remember....if you get a lot of company and you're too tired to visit, you are NOT rude to ask them to leave so you can get some rest!!! You are in the hospital to rest!!! There's plenty of time to visit when you're at home and up to visiting.

You're gonna love the nurses there! They are all wonderful!

I'll let you know if I think of anything else!

Love ya!

Jules

Ah yes,  i had a list of things to bring.  Here are my suggestions.   If you have an IV, you can't put on pajamas, nightgown or robe.  I hated that.  Also you may want to bring wipes so that you can at least wipe down yourself ( i did not want to shower there, but that was me).  Slippers is good to bring.  There is only one tv in the room.  So if you have a roommate who takes over the tv you may want to bring an Ipod, crossword puzzle book.  Also, cell phone w/charger, definetly your shakes - food service will take them and use them for you.  Chapstick, mirror, makeup (sometimes it just makes you feel human).  Hairbrush, toothpaste/brushListermints for breath (no sugar)
Well, thats all I can come up with.   I was packed like a week before i went in.  Not too excited, huh.   Hope this helps!!!    YAY Liza!!    Eldy

Wow Liza - the countdown is on!

I agree with all the things listed above - can't really add anything.  All I can tell you was I had interest in nothing at first - was sooooooo tired from the anesthesia I didn't even want to talk on the phone.

Good luck ~ we're all scooching over on the bench!

I brought a hair clip and chapstick... that is all.

In the hospital I gave myself a spongebath.  the nurse asked me if I needed help but I was able to do it all myself.  I didn't shower but I was only there for 2 nights so whatever - I took a shower when I got home.

I ate what the hospital gave me - broth and SF jello.

I wore only the gown - no undies. Whatever!! When I went for a walk I wore a second one on the back - modesty was my last concern, I felt like I got hit by a mac truck!!

The hospital supplied me with soap, shampoo, conditioner,  lotion, mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrush, and hairbrush.  I do wish I brought my own Toothpaste because the hospital kind is nasty.
