Anyone here have the VSG?

I'm now going to have the VSG instead of the RNY and I was wondering if there is anyone else who has had it or is going to have it. Am I all alone?

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone else who's had the VSG. There is a VSG board though.

Maybe Dr. Sax can hook you up with other patients who have had this done? I know there's the confidentiality thing but if you're willing to give his office permission to give your phone number, they may be able to call someone who's had the procedure and give your number??

Either way, I support you 100% no matter what. I will learn as much as I can and share it with you. I'll find out the differences for post-op recovery and post-op living.

Continue coming here too. Maybe you're pioneering VSG patients on this board!

Thanks so much Jules for your support. I would appreciate ANY info that you can find out. I have been to the VSG board and they are really nice there also. I would never leave my rhode Island friends. I haven't gotten my approval yet but I have faith that Dr. Sax will work it out. People have been denied this procedure because they CHOSE  to have it over RNY and the ins company said NO have the RNY. In my case I CAN'T have the RNY and this is basically the only one that I can have. So the way I look at it, they have 2 choices:
1. DON"T pay for my surgery but continue to pay even more money for my specialists and co morbidities OR
2. Pay for my surgery and relieve most of my co morbidities and specialist care.
