Hi, I have never posted here before but was wondering if anyone could help me out. I had the lapband done on friday, and it was all okay except for one thing. The incision on my right side needed to have a few stitches put in to keep it closed and it hurts like hell. The other ones are a  little tender but this one hurts to move, laugh, cough etc.

Is this normal? Should I still be in such pain? Has anyone else had the stitches put in?

I would really be grateful to any info from anybody. Thank you !!!

Hi Bri,

Welcome to the RI Forum!

Congrats on making it to the losers' bench!

I had RNY but from what I hear, it's not uncommon to have stitches put in at the site of your port. Is this the side your port is on? If not, perhaps it's the site your surgeon did her work through.

For me, the site that bothered me the most was the site where my surgeon did all his magic through. It tends to be more bruised and more sensitive to pain.

Don't hesitate to call your doc! It's really important to stay in touch with her when you are having such pain! Don't wait another day!

Please let us know how you do! We're here for ya!

Thank you for your reply....The side that hurts is not where the port is so Im assuming its like you said, where she did the work. Im def calling in the morning to see if its normal. Thank you for your support!
