A WOW Moment but, Boy was Shopping HARD Today

Today I went to the market for a few things.  As I walked up and down each roll of all the food I thought to myself  I want that, I want this.  In the past year this was the 1st time I had a hard time shopping for food.  I wanted all the old things I use to buy before surgery.  All the junk.  I really wanted it.  Scared me.

Now my WOW moment was    I DID NOT BUY ANY OF IT.  I TOOK OUT MY PICTURE OF MY BEFORE AND AFTER THAT I KEEP IN MY WALLET.   Now I know why I keep them pictures on me at all time.  Not just to show everyone I know how far I have come but ,  to remind me how far I come.  I can not and WILL NOT  go back to the old me the old food the junk food.  I guess a year can really make a different.   Just thought I share this with you all keep a picture of the before and after with you to remind you all what a different can make to you. If you should end up feeling scared about going back to your old ways.

I am proud of you Lisa, you made it thru without buying all the bad stuff I can imagine that was hard but the idea of the before and after picture is such a good idea.
Keep up the great work

Hey Sweetie!

Great job! I'm so proud of you!

I, too, keep my photo with me at all times. Even when I went for my ear surgery. I need that constant reminder and quite frankly, the uplifting encouragement I get from total strangers when I show them the pics! Sounds a little vane but as the saying goes, "If it works, don't fix it"!

Love ya Lee!

Lisa ~ Hello.  What an amazing thing you did --resisting.  Not an easy task, it can be so hard to walk by those old favorites.  When I'm out to dinner with friends, it can be kind of tempting when others order things like fries and sweets.  As you mention, we need to keep that image of how we used to look and the memory of how unhealthy we used to feel.  Maybe with Chip's upcoming surgery, that will keep on the path as you continue to inspire each other.

Hey Lisa,

I think the most important thing for all of us to remember is that our old thoughts and habits don't just go away because we've had the surgery. I think we might fool ourselves a little into thinking they do because the honeymoon period is easy. Your post is a great way to show us all that the struggle will go on but that we will continue to get stronger. We can't get ****y and think, "Oh, I can have a little of this or that," because then we'll be right back where we were before we know it.

Your post is such an inspiration! I hope when I'm one year out I am as strong as you are! Congratulations

Robyn
