Not Long Now!

Well this is officially my last week of eating "real foods" before I start my 2 week liquid diet in preparation for surgery. I am more than a little freaked out that it is here already. I was thinking about it last night and when I first got my date, it was 7 weeks away. At the time that seemed SO far away. Now it's 3 and I don't have any idea where the last 4 weeks went! The time does go so fast, even when you are anxiously anticipating something as big as WLS.
The day I start the 2 weeks liquids is also the day I go for my pre-admission testing at the hospital. And after that, it's only a short time until the BIG DAY!

I am a little nervous about the two week liquids though. I know I can do it, I just wonder how awful it's going to be. I mean I have overfed myself for so long, I just wonder how hungry and miserable I will be on 3 shakes and one healthy frozen meal a day..........Guess I'd better go bulk up now for next week, lol.

I'm sure you can do it. Just keep thinking about the new and improved you that will be rewarded for all of your hard work.

You'll do just fine. I keep quoting another member-? which one. "Keep your eye on the prize" That is what is gonna get you through. My date is 6 weeks from today and I, like you, wonder where the last 4 weeks went since I got my date!!!!! I don't have to do the 2 week diet though. Just clears the day before. Anyway, let all the "losers" around here MOVE OVER............where a'comin so watch out!!!!!

Hi Liza,
What time are you having the pre-op testing?  On the 28th, right?  I am assuming that it is the same day as mine as our surgery is on the same day.  I have to go at 1:00.  Maybe we will see each other there?! I know what you mean about the time flying!!!

As far as the 2 week diet goes, I can give you a little advice as I have been doing Medifat since the beginning of February.  The process of testing etc was longer than I had expected and I felt as though I needed to start my journey when I was motivated and kind of practice for the rest of my life after WLS.  I have lost 43 pounds so far!!  Anyhow, the first 3-5 days was a little rough for me as my body adjusted to the sugar/carb deprivation!!  Surprisingly, although I am only eating 800-900 calories per day, I am NOT hungry! I know it is different for everyone but just telling myself that "I am choosing to do this.  I am choosing a healthy life." was enough to get me through the rough spots.  I hope that makes some sense!

Well, we don't have long now.  Health and happiness awaits us.

If I can do it, you can do it... It's not as bad as you think it would be, but I did look at the clock everyday and waited for 5:30pm so that I could have dinner...LOL...after a few days, its nothing...Good luck...

Liza how exciting!!!  I can't believe its almost time for you.  I will tell you though that the first couple of days, I was hungry.  But you know what, you are so psyched at this point that there is no desire to cheat.  Just remember it gets better.  And once you have the surgery, its like, hunger? whats that?    You will do great!   I am anxious for you to start your journey.     Take care!  Eldy

Hi Liza,

Just wanted to say good luck with everything! Everyone here is so positive about the pre-op diet and I think that's great, but I want to tell you my story...

I did not do all that well on the diet. I pretty much had liquids all day but always ended up eating more than I should have. I just kept getting up every day and trying again. I only lost 7lbs before surgery, but it still went well. Do your best but don't beat yourself up if you're not perfect! After surgery it gets better because you don't have that hunger. Good luck and keep us posted!
