horrible experience, must share to warn others
Well you know how they say never go shopping when your hungry ...... I need to learn that one.
Went to Shaws on Sunday just to buy watermelon and over $100 later I walk out with the new Pillsbury reduced sugar cake mix & frosting, and the reduced sugar brownie mix all made with Splenda.
I come home all excited and I bake the cake and frost it. I know its gonna cost me 285 calories and only 3 grams of protein but I don't care cause I just did a 2 1/2 hour work out, except for my martinis and shots at Margaritaville & Hard Rock I don't cheat, so I'm gonna have one slice of cake.
The cake was moist & delicious. Smelled, looked, and tasted like real cake .... no diet, low-fat, no-sugar, reduced carb taste at all.
30 minutes later......
I am in the fetal position on my couch and crying. I have extreme abdominal pain, never felt such pain as this. I've had 3 episodes of kidney stones, gall bladder attach, 2 WLS, hysterectomy, rupturing cysts on the ovaries and so forth. Never have I had such bad abdominal pain as this. My husband was looking at me saying we should call Dr. Pohl and I really thought I was going to end up in the hospital that night.
I put a heating bad on my stomach and lower back. I was chewing papaya enzyme like there was no tomorrow, even took chewable pepcid and nothing was helping. Well about an hour after I ate that cake guess what ..... five hours of severe dumping.
I threw out the rest of the cake, along with the other mixes I had bought. Hubby who hasn't had WLS was sick as a dog when he woke up the next morning and spent most of the early part of his day running in and out of the bathroom as well.
So my advice to all my OH friends .....
Stay away from the Pillsbury Reduced Sugar mixes

One thing I never eat is any food made with splenda or anything like that.,,,especially, candy, cookies etc...you are much better off eating the regular stuff , and just eat a small piece of it. With Gastric by pass, you dont absorb all of the food anyway.
The sugar free or low sugar, except for drinks, ie. tea, waters, etc..are ok.because there isnt much in them, but food...is a big no no because they cause a severe laxative effect with much cramping.
I know because I have been there myself. If you want cake, cookies, eat the good stuff.!!!
Jus****ch the amount...and you will be fine.
